News & Publications
Today we filed a civil rights lawsuit against Cottonwood Heights Police Department, for alleged civil rights violations resulting in the shooting death of a 19 year old male. The man was shot by a police officer in the back as he was running away. One bullet severed the man's spinal cord at the C-6 level, leading to his death several days later. The family is alleging violations of the Fourth Amendment.
Sykes McAllister Law Offices filed a federal civil rights lawsuit today in the United States District Court, District of Utah, on behalf of Brenda Mayes. The lawsuit arises out of an incident where a Davis County Bus Driver trapped a child by his backpack in the bus doors and rove several hundred feet, with the child dangling from the bus the entire time. It is alleged that the bus driver acted against the child based on his race.
